What is "gay" and what is "straight?"

Thu Jun 29, 2006 at 09:21:31 PM PDT

I have done much thinking lately about the labels we put on people, such as "gay," "lesbian," "straight," "bi," etc...  What do these really mean?  What advantage do we have in labeling ourselves in this way?  OK, so, I am a woman and I have never been in a romantic/sexual relationship with another woman, so does that mean I am automatically straight and will be for the rest of my days?

Podcasts for Beginners: A Primer

Mon Jan 09, 2006 at 06:22:27 AM PDT

Did you get an mp3 player (iPod) for the holidays?  New to the world of podcasts?  Well, I am too, although I am fast becoming addicted to them, and thought I'd compile a list of links for those who might want to get started in downloading political (or other) podcasts.  I have only been downloading and listening to podcasts for a few weeks now, so I will say straight up that I am nowhere near an expert on this, but perhaps those of you who are new to this too might benefit from these very simple instructions.

However, if there are some people who are willing to give me advice...

Am I Just a Pawn in an Evil Game?

Fri Jun 17, 2005 at 06:36:43 AM PDT

I'm having a politcal, existential crisis.  I read Janeo's very recent post : (http://www.dailykos.com/story/2005/6/17/9612/33440) and can sympathize with her feelings of frustration.  So, here's my rant.

Constitution Day--How Ironic!

Mon Mar 07, 2005 at 07:23:26 PM PDT

Mandatory Celebration of Constitution Day in any school or university that receives federal funding.

I'm relatively new to Kos, so forgive me if this has already been reported, but a colleague told me today about this new legislation.  A provision was tacked onto the 2005 spending budget, mandating that all schools, colleges and universities who receive any federal funding must teach the constitution on September 17.
