Barbara Boxer... MIA or still over at Joes' Place?
Tue Aug 22, 2006 at 02:28:31 PM PDT
If anyone sees my Senator would you please tell her I'm still waiting to hear from her?
Back in mid-July I wrote Barbara Boxer questioning her support of Joe Lieberman, a few days later I received the following reply.
July 25, 2006
Dear Steven,
Thank you for writing to me about the hotly contested Connecticut primary for Senate.
...
So why did I go to Connecticut? When Joe asked me to tell his constituents about our work together on the environment and choice, I told him I would.
I realize this decision has deeply disappointed you. I completely understand your position and only hope that you will come to understand mine....

Suprising RS Story re: Bushs I-Spy Problems
Sat Dec 24, 2005 at 01:55:56 PM PDT
As we all know RedState is the very last place you would think to go for a thoughtful well reasoned opinion of Bush flaunting the Constitution and the law... Well, suprise!
'horaceox' went into a great degree of detail to paint an accurate picture of Bushs actions and the law. IMO
Preface:
I think there are four questions that should be asked: (1) Are the searches constitutional; (2) Do the searches violate FISA; (3) Do the searches fall within an inherent Article II Power that trumps FISA, and (4) should Bush be impeached?
Conclusion:
My initial answers to the questions are (1) No, (2) Probably yes, (3) Probably yes, and (4) Probably no.
Three Two out of Four not bad for RS. He then goes on to detail and defend his positions WITHOUT being sent to the pile!

Leon and his redstate syncophants seem to have opened their eyes... and they don't like what they see.
In his diary "Victory at All Costs" Leon is crying 'they must be defeated / victory at all costs' to cover the black eye the right got after the rally / march turnouts this weekend... he's sounding like a fragile frightened man.
Update [2005-9-26 23:53:38 by SteveK]: Checked diary for comments and he's really catching it from the left and suprisingly no one's been sent to the PILE yet.

NEOCON hitman asst. posting on Conservative Voice?

Does anyone remember back in late 2003 when Dale Stoffel, a U.S. Contractor in Iraq, tried to warn an Army Task Force that a Lebanese middleman was involved in the deal might be routing kickbacks to Iraqi Defense Ministry officials?
Army Ignored Broker on Arms Deal
By Ken Silverstein and T. Christian Miller
March 15, 2005
Soon after interim Prime Minister Iyad Allawi took office last summer, he announced plans to create a tank division for the new Iraqi army. The $283-million project was supposed to display the power of Iraq's new government. But under the guidance of a task force overseen by one of America's top generals, it has become another chapter in a rebuilding process marked by accusations of corruption.
The U.S. contractor working on the project repeatedly warned the task force headed by Army Lt. Gen. David H. Petraeus that a Lebanese middleman involved in the deal might be routing kickbacks to Iraqi Defense Ministry officials...

Remembering The Lessons Of Germany's Past
Sat Jun 18, 2005 at 09:09:08 AM PDT
While looking for an argument over at
The Conservative Voice website I ran into the best article I've seen comparing Germany in the 30s and what's happening here today.
Remembering The Lessons Of Germany's Past
Chuck Baldwin
For years, I struggled to comprehend how the good people of Germany could allow someone such as Adolph Hitler to lead them into what became World War II. After all, before Hitler's rise to power, Germany had a rich Christian heritage. The Reformation out of the Dark Ages had its roots deeply imbedded in Germany and surrounding countries.

Goldstar Mother try to explain.

In "
Goldstar Mothers Reject Dead Soldiers Mom" futisaba points to the damage a few 'non-thing' individuals can do. The refusal of the
Goldstar Mothers executive board to NOT allow the mother of a GI killed in the line of duty membership BECAUSE the mother was not a U.S. Citizen can do nothing but solidify the negative world opinion.
I e-mailed 'the MOTHERS' and they auto answered with a link to their new press release: (below the break)

Arlington National Cemetery Gains 70 Acres of Land
Posted by Senior Editor on 2005/5/27 21:56:00
In 1998, burial space at the country's most prestigious resting place for servicemembers and their spouses was becoming scarce, and officials worried they would run out of room at Arlington National Cemetery in about 25 years.
After years of searching for more space, Defense Department officials have garnered more than 70 acres of land to expand the sprawling 600-plus-acre hillside on the west bank of the Potomac River overlooking the nation's capital.
What? NOW the real estate problem's taken care of we can really go out there and kick some ass?
I'm speechless... can someone help?

RUSH transcript of:
Bill Moyers Responds to CPB's Tomlinson
Charges of Liberal Bias: "We Were Getting
it Right, But Not Right Wing"
In his first public address since leaving PBS six months ago, journalist Bill Moyers responds to charges by Kenneth Tomlinson - the chairman of the Corporation for Public Broadcasting - of liberal bias and revelations that Tomlinson hired a consultant to monitor the political content of Moyers' PBS show "Now." We spend the hour playing an excerpt of Moyers' closing address at the National Conference on Media Reform in St. Louis, Missouri. [includes rush transcript] Over 2,000 people converged in St. Louis Missouri this weekend for the second-ever National Conference on Media Reform. Few issues were discussed as much as the future of public broadcasting in this country.
I realize link-only diarys are frowned on. I posted it in Hummingbirds - Bill Moyers Rocks!!! Stunning Speech! Diary just before it fell off the front page.
Newsweek - "DeLay knew everything... Abramoff"

Bye bye bugman!!!
'Meet the Press' this morning left me cheered and then I ran across copy from next weeks Newsweek... OH JOY!
Newsweek

With Friends Like These...
A lunchtime chat with a lobbyist close to Tom DeLay suggests he may be headed for hotter water.
"Everybody is lying," Abramoff told a former colleague. There are e-mails and records that will implicate others, he said. He was noticeably caustic about House Majority Leader Tom DeLay. For years, nobody on Washington's K Street corridor was closer to DeLay than Abramoff...
This I Believe - A new NPR series

NPR is launching a new series based on Edward R. Murrow's 'This I Believe' radio program. They talked it up this morning on "Morning Edition" so I went to the site... I think it's worth a peek.
NPR.org, April 4, 2005
This I Believe is an exciting national media project that invites Americans from all walks of life to write about and discuss the core beliefs that guide their daily lives. They will share these statements in weekly broadcasts on NPR's Morning Edition and All Things Considered.

Survivor of Minnesota school shooting describes ordeal
BY TED GREGORY
Chicago Tribune
BEMIDJI, Minn. - (KRT) - Two faces of promise emerged Thursday from the otherwise dark and disturbing picture of school violence. One belonged to a 15-year-old boy afraid to return to the Minnesota school where he was shot just days before. The other was that of a young woman who represents the prospect of salvaging hope for the future from wrenching loss.
